Evaluation Matters:  The ABCs of Evaluations and Assessments for Students with Disabilities

Evaluations are an important component of understanding a student’s strengths and needs, but many times the types and results of evaluations can be confusing.  This lunch and learn event will provide a practical understanding of evaluations and how they can be used as strategic tools to improve IEPs and educational outcomes.  We will cover:

  • The importance of evaluations in the special ed process
  • What evaluations are appropriate for a student
  • The components of a thorough evaluation
  • Understanding scores on evaluations
  • Independent Educational Evaluations (IEE) – who, what, when, why, & how

Speaker:  Fiona Rattray, Parent Training & Information Center Specialist Putnam ILS/Westchester Independent Living Center
